Visiting this famous prison(color version) is a must if you are ever in San Fran. Best if you buy the ticket in advance, there is a limit amount of visitors are allowed each session. We bough ours on the same day(early morning) but i think we were just lucky and it was in end of August. we wanted to visit the night tour but it was fully booked, that need months in advance because there are only 2 session for the night tour but then again, it's not exactly at night but until 6:40pm but no biggy

the ticket to Alcatraz it's abit expensive ($30/pax), although it's a national park, the national park annual pass are of no use here. According to them, the national park itself is free this $30 is for the boat ride though

we spend about 2-3 hours here exploring, With the queuing. boat ride and everything, one need to at least spend half a day of their time to visit the Alcatraz.
