Alright reset. We took the train (BART) from the airport to Downtown, which takes about an hour or so. The one way ticket cost $8.65, i think i remember buying a return ticket which cost cheaper rather than buying 2 one way. And we check in our shabby hostel which i do not want to mention ever again
information center at the heart of the town near where cable car end stop.
we were unlucky because by the time we settle down and started to explore it was closed. But It's really easy to get around in San Fran. Just need a map or your smart phone with data plan of course to get around
We decided to buy the 3 days Visitor pass, which allows us to have unlimited rides on the cable car, bus and subways for 3 days. Not having to worried about having no change for the bus ride. Plus it cost $6 / pax for a one way ride on the cable car
the cable cars were all well maintained and it's beautiful and fun to ride. The end stop at Powell Street is always crowded. It's better to take the cable car few blocks down
downtown, shopping!!!
from Powell Street we walked for 30 minutes to Chinatown
boy was i craving for authentic Chinese food
feels like home
found the famous place where they make delicious egg tarts and it was close, not only for the day but for the whole week... ain't that nice.....for them. We then asked google what's good for dinner and we found noodle shop but unfortunately i didn't managed to take a photo of the shop. well you see i was hungry and tired plus i had to carry my dumb ass big camera around the whole evening. SO sorry i forgot to take a photo.
The noodle shop was actually quite good and it was cheap in my opinion. My wantan soup noodle cost less than $5. Not bad right?
from Chinatown we then took the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf. we had to stand by the edge of the cable car and hold on to the pole because it was so crowded but it was the most amazing experience. It was fun and exciting and we made it to Fisherman's Wharf in one piece
there you can find all kinds of fresh seafood.
the price was alright but it was happy with my wanton noodle
@ pier 39
we wanted to buy the tickets to Alcatraz for the next day but it closed.... we went back the next morning and got the tickets. Another story for another day
well it's no lost cost, we headed back to pier 39
alot of nice shops, cafes, bars and restaurant
the famous San Fran sea lions, here is where the cool sea lions hang out
here is where the tourist watch the cool sea lions hang out
beautiful night view from the pier
the next morning we went back to Chinatown again for breakfast
as always Chinatown is always congested
after a 10 minutes walk and 5 minutes cable car ride we have reach out destination
foooood, the line was long but enough food for everyone. i would definitely recommend this place, cheap and tasty. It's just a small shop and they only do take away. We bought, fried noodle ($2), Siu mai ($1.90/ 3 pcs), Har kaw ($1.90/ 3 pcs), chives dumplings ($1.90/ 3 pcs) and 2 egg tarts ( forgot the price) everything under $10. We were so full, i think that amount of food enough for 3 -4 pax as the dim sum are all in big sizes
we then took a bus from Chinatown to the Painted Ladies
Painted ladies
it's pretty, i wonder how much the houses here cost??
there is a small park just opposite the Painted Ladies called Alamo Square.
We ate our dim sum at the park while enjoying the view. It was nice but the weather was abit chilly
after breakfast we continue our visit to the Golden Gate Park.
As we only bought a 3 days City Pass, we travel places which is further away from our hostel which is not within the walking distance.
there is a lot of see at the Golden Gate Park.
1st stop Conservatory of Flowers
entrance fee
i took a little sneak peak inside, it's more tropical plants. Well since we are from a tropical country, we decided to skipped it
there is also a shuttle bus that takes your around the park. it's FREE
people in San Fran really know how to enjoy life
FREE dance lesson
nice spot for a break
howdy Mr officer
next stop, De young Museum
featuring Keith Haring
entrance fee is quite expensive, it's even more expensive than the Louvre, yup we skipped this too
next California Academy of Sciences
we skipped this too. I don't know how much the entrance fee but i can smell it....expensive :D
Japanese Tea Garden
$8 entrance fee
seen Japanese Garden before so we skipped this too
we can still enjoy some of the Japanese Garden landscape
view of Stow Lake
ducky
basically Golden Gate Park is quite big and lots to see but the entrance fee it's quite expensive we ended up just walking around the park which is nice enough. we only had time to visit the west side of the park, which also take up few hours of our time. If time is limited i do suggest talking the park shuttle bus.
to be continues......
