Museum Island got its name from 5 internationally renowned museum that occupy the island's northern part. why call island? It's located on an island in the spree river in the central Mitte district of Berlin! you'll know when u see the map:

we only managed to visit 2 Museum (Pergamon Museum & New Museum)
the ticket price to visit are from 12 Euro/ Museum, 6Euro for student. For all museum (combination ticket) you just need to pay 4Euro extra (16Euro) and 8Euro for student

this is among the most famous building (Pergamon Museum) of the state museum.

next one of my favorite, the market Gate of Miletus from 100 A.D

the Ishtar Gate (605 - 562 BC) exemplifies the monumental architecture of the cities of Ancient Mesopotamia. Love the richness of the color ^^
all these sacred animals covers the walls are the "creation" of the Babylonian to protect the entrance of the fortress. eg: the Lion of Ishtar, the Bull of Adad, the Gragon of Marduk. if you look carefully the animals are kind of unique, snake head, unicorn & chicken feet? hehe

the water basin(704-681 BC), on the corner and in the centre of each side are depictions of the watergods holding overflowing waterjug wearing fish skin cloak. It says that this water basin was used for cultic purification rites. why fish skin cloak ?? hehe

if you like Egyptian, Papyrus and pre- and Early history.... this is where you need to visit!
The building suffered severe damage too in the WWII. It is open to the public on October 2009, after being closed for some 70 years.
