So much to see and eat in San Fran, we spend about 4 nights there and we can't get enough of it. Continues with our journey
San Fran's signature landmark, the Golden Gate Bridge
one of the cable's section
so big
it is so beautiful but too bad the weather wasn't on our side
this tourist did a good job taking our photo
we can even see the Alcatraz Island from the bridge
and of San Fran city
one can drive across the bridge ( rates http://goldengatebridge.org/tolls_traffic/toll_rates.php), take the bus or just walk, there used to be a sidewalk fee from May 1937 - Dec 1970, now it's FREE
or cycle
i don't know if it's always windy but it was when we were there
more view of the city
It is said that the Golden Gate Bridge is the top suicide location in the world, more than 1500 people committed suicide bu jumping off the bridge. Which is why the sate install this yellow box (11 in total) counseling telephones on the bridge that connect to trained suicide prevention counselors, and they are planning to build a net under the span as a suicide deterrent
alright enough of the dark side of this iconic bridge
.back to its beautiful architecture and surroundings. i really do love the color of the bridge so bold and contrast with it's surroundings.
we didn't walked the whole stretch, we didn't dress warm enough for the strong chilly wind
next stop to a near by tourist spot
Palace of Fine Arts, from Golden Gate Park we took a bus here
we were disappointed as it was poorly maintain
1st thing we saw was a dead bird in the black water...ewww
they should stop people from feeding. honestly i feel that the birds here are over fed and they shit all over the place
it is a beautiful place to visit if only the water feature aren't so disturbing. i would not want to fall in
at the bus stop, Mr smarty pants invented a hanger...hehe
after a long day of walking around the city
time for something sweet. A must visit Ghirardelli cafe. Their ice cream is to die for...seriously
i wish i didn't had to share mine....but then it's quite a big cup
view of Alcatraz Island
after a nice tea time we walk to see the crookedest road
we were lazy to wait for the cable car so we kind of had to hike up the steep road
i would suggest one to take the cable car going up...it's so damn tiring but the view was beautiful
see how steep it is
people who lived here must be lucky to have such beautiful view of the bay.
i do wonder how much rent are they paying?
we finally reached after a 20 minutes hike
spectacular view
there is a small sidewalk for pedestrian
many people drove down the road... me? no thanks i prefer to walk on this kind of road
the famous crookedest road
all that walking sure make us hungry, not knowing where to eat and we didn't want to eat where all the tourist go, thanks to google and a smart phone we found a nice Italian restaurant Sotto Mare
it was weekdays and it was packed.....the food was delicious and price was reasonable,
We had their crab cioppino........2 thumps up....definitely a must try
menu and price list. do try it and reservation is highly recommended
Fisherman's wharf in the morning
thank god the weather was beautiful
it's nice to stroll down the pier in the morning, less crowd
the mascots of Fisherman's Wharf
to bad we had not much time, would be a nice time to go again to the Golden Gate bridge for a nice photo shoot
look who's out for a swim
love this shot
sea lions sun bathing
sea lions escaping Alcatraz
they are actually quite noisy...hehe
Golden Gate bridge from the Fisherman's Wharf
Pier 39 in the morning
awwww soooo cute
alot of restaurant, cafes, gift shops and info center
enjoying my breakfast bought at Chinatown.....cheap and yummy
from the Pier 39 it's just a 5 minutes walk to the Alcatraz Cruises terminal
it's between Pier 31 and Pier 33
I will separate the Alcatraz entry, this one seem to be a little too long...hehe
San Francisco is really a nice city to visit, people are nice, weather is amazing whole year round, so much to see and do. It's really different from New York City that is for sure. I love their Farmers market over at Civic Center, things are cheap there wish i could buy more fruits back to NY.
Will i be back.....you betcha
~adios~
