Autumn in Japan, Kyoto - part 3 (Kiyomizudera temple)

Kiyomizudera temple is one of Kyoto MUST visit!!!And of course it's a UNESCO world heritage site. It's easily reached by bus. We took the 206 bus(or 100) from Daimaru Shopping Center bus stop, it's really easy with the bus, they dropped you right at Kiyomizu-Michi bus stop( or you can get down @ Gojo-zaka) Cost us 230yen/adult.

from the bus stop it takes about 20 minutes walked up to the temple or it can take an hour in our case

got distracted by many of the shops there..hehe
we didn't even feel tired walking up hill

there is also kimono for rent if you want to play dress up. It can cost from 3000yen - 10,000yen depends on the quality. In late autumn you do NOT want to wear the thin layer  kimono, it's cold

we are back, the last time we were here was 2012 summer

traffic jam

entrance fee cost 400yen. We were lucky to be there during the peak time of autumn and they have illumination in the evening but we had to buy another ticket in which cost another 400yen/adult

This year autumn illumination was from Nov 14 to Dec 6

sunset @ kiyomizudera

weather was gloomy the whole day at least sunset was nice

view over looking Kyoto city

Koyashu Pagoda

The Otawa waterfall, it is said that the water has some special power. There are 3 separate streams with 3 different powers that visitor can drink from. There is Longevity, success in school and fortunate love life. Choose wisely ,because if one drink all 3 streams, it's consider greedy and the powers might backfire

enjoying the view from the deck

that is the best spot to take a pictures of the temple. good luck squeezing in!

fall foliage in Kiyomizudera

finally i found a spot bright enough to take a picture with the temple

excuse my shaky hand

line wasn't too bad...it's was already quite dark at 5pm. i drink from the 1st stream om the right...not sure what's it's for but water taste good...hehe

by 6pm everyone was escorted out and the temple was close for awhile

green tea cream puff

we headed out and had some bite and a nice hot coco....it was a cold night

back for round 2. The line was so long but at least Japanese is really good with crowd control and there was extra booths for ticket purchase but one can only bought the ticket earlier. we didn't know we could,so we waited in the coffee shop until the line thin down. we wasn't in a hurry anyway

a totally different feel to the place

beautiful water reflection of the tree illumination

cherry tree...it's bald for now

the crowd was worse then before, but i don't travel this far, flying 16 hours flight just to walk pass without a fight  there...hehe at least this is Japan people are more polite and considerate but there is always a few of selfish ugly tourist

many give up going to the terrace area

i was kind of lucky, it just took 40 minutes to walked from the main temple to the terrace area(normally it takes only 3 minutes during off season)

the view is simple magnificent

took few extra pic, make sure i got it right

the full moon was an extra bonus

i would definitely say that this Fall illumination is one of the highlight of this Japan trip.
A MUST visit if you ever happen to be in Kyoto during spring or fall.
