Florida Sunshine State - Orlando Part 3 - Orange picking

Another thing Florida are known for besides abundance of theme parks are, Oranges!!!! Few year back a friend of mine went Orange picking in Orlando and brought home 2 for us....boy was it yummy and the fragrance was wonderful, totally different from the store bought. This time we wanted to pick some too but unfortunately mid Nov they only have pomelos, tangerines, key limes and lemons. Oh well any fruits that you can pick ripe from the tree, you won't be disappointed!!!

somehow all the good ones(according to us anyway) are always hard to reach

alright tip to pick your own fruit. normally the ripe ones come off really easy. So as you see in this picture here, this man is using too much force, which might result to bruising the fruit

If you have your eyes on that really plump and beautiful fruit but too high up on the tree?! you can always jump and grab as shown in picture. hehe

they have monster truck tour too in this fruit orchard which run few times a day, too bad we didn't have time. the tour takes about 1.5 hour

but we were happy with our harvest for the day, 2 big pomelos, few tangerines and some key limes to fill in those gap...hehe. There are 3 size of bags one can choose, we got the medium size....and i think we did a pretty good job filling the bag ><  i think it cost $18 for the medium bag. This is a farm i found online which is about 35 minutes from Universal Studio and 15 minutes from Disneyland, I believe it's called Showcase of Citrus! 

i totally glad that i included fruit picking to our Florida trip itinerary. A definitely fun activity for the whole family. Plus it's good snack for our road trip to Miami and Keywest...... and when you peel those tangerines ahhhh the sweet citrus frangrant fills up our rental car.
