Day two we covered the orange line of the Grand Canyon shutter service, The South Kaibab Trailhead and Yaki Point. As it's less stops point compare to the Red line, we had more time to slowly enjoy the view
The South Kaibab Trailhead
there is a small narrow path way leading to the Colorado River
The ranger was nice enough to let us use his scope
Yaki Point
The shuttle bus for the orange line get is as far as Yaki point.
We then drove our rental car toward Desert View and did a few stopped over along the way
http://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/upload/desert-view.pdf
a better idea of where's where
The Grandview Point
Moran Point
along the way to Desert View there is also a small Tusayan Ruin and Museum.
It's really small but hey it's free and quite interesting
The ruin is rather small. It's said that Tusayan ruin is a remnant of a small village of about 30 people who lived here 25-30 years in the late 1100s
the architectural was typical for that period. Here builders used limestone blocks held together with mud
the name "Tusayan" was the Spanish name for the geologic area and was given to the ruin by archaeologists who excavated the site in 1930
Desert View. The distance from the Grand Canyon Village to Desert View takes about 30-45 minutes without any stops. So it's not that bad
the watchtower
was designed by Mary Colter 1932
view form Desert view
Desert View is a MUST visit...it's really beautiful here
the interior of the watch tower i rather like it. lots of natural light. I wonder if it would be stuffy during the summer time?
there are alot of windows though
85 steps in total in the watch tower
view from the watch tower
paintings on the ceiling
wall
top of the watch tower
i love this view
one last shot before we head to another point for the sunset
Navajo Point. we could see the watch tower from here
but it's rather small
last stop Lipan point
lovely spot for viewing sunset
something to read while we wait for the sun to set
it really amazes me that one can see the same view and have a different feeling in different time of the day
love this picture...feels so at peace.
might look peaceful but damn was it cold
everyone getting their gear ready
waiting in patience
behind the scene... :D
all are equally beautiful.... hard to choose so i choose all
i almost turn blue while waiting for the sun to set but it was worth every minute
wonder when I'll get the change to visit this place again. But then i might want to make a trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion and Monument Valley Navajo Tribe Park...so much to see
till next time
~ bye ~
